The Wedding Suit Shopping Timeline

Calendar with Blog Title Suit Shopping Timeline for Weddings
Suit Shopping Timeline for Weddings

Your wedding day is a significant milestone in your life, and every detail matters, especially when it comes to your attire. Selecting the perfect wedding suit requires careful planning and consideration. From coordinating with the bride's gown and bridesmaid dresses to choosing styles, colors, and levels, there's a lot to take into account. In this blog post, we'll guide you through a comprehensive timeline for selecting your wedding suit, ensuring you look your absolute best on your special day.

Step 1: When to Start

nce you've locked in your wedding date, secured the venue, and the bride has ordered her gown (including knowing its color), it's time to begin your suit journey. Having these key elements in place provides a foundation to make informed decisions about your suit. If you already have bridesmaids colors, that can help with picking the groomsmen attire too. Don't forget to bring those fabric swatches! The average couple begins their suit shopping anywhere from 6-9 months out from the wedding date but it's never too early to start on this part of the timeline.

Step 2: Designing Your Look

With the wedding details in place, you can start making preliminary decisions for your suit shopping. Consider the color palette of the wedding, including bridesmaid dress colors, to ensure your suit complements the overall aesthetic. At a consultation, you'll choose styles, colors, and a suit level that suits your taste and matches the wedding theme.

Step 3: Registering Your Event

At this point in the suit shopping timeline, in order to secure our current pricing for your chosen suit and the services offered, you'll need to register and make an initial payment. Typically, this payment of $75, is applied to the total cost of your outfit. This is also an opportunity to decide if you want our delivery service. We limit the number of events that can be delivered on a single weekend. It's never too early to lock in that date by paying in full for the service.

Step 4: Getting Measured

When it comes to measurements, timing is crucial. For custom-made suits, plan to get measured approximately 8-10 weeks before the wedding. This allows ample time for adjustments and alterations to create a perfectly tailored suit. If you're opting for a rental or a regular purchase, aim to schedule measurements 3-5 weeks before the wedding to ensure your suit is ready on time. You don't need an appointment to get measured in store during open hours. If you want to have us come to you and your guys for a group fitting anywhere in the Valley, we do require an appointment for those. Any out of town guys can submit their measurements via email using the instructions here.

We highly recommend NOT getting measurements done earlier than the indicated timeframes. The more time between measuring and your wedding, the more likely it is that you can changes sizes. If size changes are significant enough for purchases or custom, you may be responsible for paying for items in the new size.

Step 5: Try-On and Alterations

As your suits arrive, it's time for fittings and any necessary alterations. For purchase and custom suits, this typically takes place about 1-2 weeks before the wedding. This step is essential to guarantee a flawless fit and to allow our seamstresses enough time to alter the suit. Anyone just renting the outfit will try-on the outfit at time of pickup.

Step 6: Final Fittings and Pickup

With alterations complete, your suit is ready for final fittings and pickup. Outfits are typically guaranteed for 2 days before the wedding. Pant length and jacket sleeve lengths are quickly altered at this time-- usually while the wearer is in the store picking up. Any size changes for shoes or other items (jacket, pants, shirt) are usually available at the latest the next morning. Rentals done through our Tempe warehouse are typically available immediately unless it's a specialty item. Because clothes fit every body type differently, we strongly recommend every person try on their outfit at the time of pickup. This enables us to make any last minute adjustments to ensure a perfect fit.

Step 7: Special Considerations and Early Pickup

Life is full of surprises, and sometimes circumstances may require adjustments to the timeline. If you have special considerations, such as extended rentals or early pickup, don't hesitate to discuss these options with our store associates. They may be able to suggest ways to accommodate your needs.

Step 8: Return of Rental Items

For those who opted for suit rentals, it's important to note that rental items are typically due back on the business day after use. Be sure to adhere to this timeline to avoid any late fees.

Selecting your wedding suit is an exciting and essential part of your wedding journey. By following this timeline, you'll ensure a stress-free and enjoyable process. Starting with initial choices and consultations, moving through measurements, try-ons, and alterations, and ending with final fittings and pickup, this timeline will help you look and feel your best on your wedding day. Remember, open communication is key, allowing you to make the most of your suit experience and create lasting memories.
